Firearms

Firearms have always been available and used by the criminal elements of society. The criminal use of firearms has escalated since the 80's with the increase of the drugs trade started by the rave scene. Now it seems that every little petty thief or gang member who wants to be known as a shooter or a gunman has access to firearms. As of January 2004, the UK government has tightened up our firearms legislation, which was already among the toughest in the world. However, the criminal use of weapons is still on the increase. Since 1946 there have been six firearm amnesties in the UK, the most recent in 2003.

 
Gun culture in the UK is spiralling out of control with more gun related crime being reported on a daily basis. The CIB aims to bring about a greater understanding of the British gun culture, and how the police and other relevant agencies combat gun crime.
