HM Revenue and Customs
HM Revenue and Customs plays an integral part in the last line of defence to the UK in areas such as drugs, tobacco, alcohol, people, food and animal smuggling. The role of the Customs officer first began during the reign of Edward the 1st in the 13th Century when duty was first placed on the exportation of wool which was then in great demand across Europe. The duty made from the wool then funded military campaigns across the world and to this day still funds many areas of our national defence.
We aim in this area of the website to provide information into the many old and new roles that HM Revenue and Customs provides today. Our organisation aims to create a micro mini site, within our company structure, for every customs in the UK, with basic information such as location, opening hours and contact numbers, but we do hope to expand on that information in the future.
